C&K becomes member of Smartway Transport Partnership
C&K Trucking, LLC is proud to announce they have been recognized by the United States Environmental Protection Agency as a member of their Smartway Transport Partnership. The SmartWay Transport Partnership is an innovative collaboration between EPA and the freight industry to increase energy efficiency while significantly reducing greenhouse gases and air pollution.

Currently, C&K Trucking is the only crosstown carrier in Chicago and one of only two in Norfolk, Virginia who have become members of the SmartWay Transport Program. "We are proud to be a member of this important program and have set a goal for reducing emissions by 40% within the next 3 years" said Mike Burton, President of C&K Trucking.

As a member of the Smartway Transport Partnership, C&K will
focus on the following to reduce emissions:
  • Installing electronic technology to gather data from tractor engine computers to track and measure fuel efficiency
  • Developing programs to reduce idling times
  • Improving the fleet age via replacing older company trucks with
the 2007/2008 trucks and restricting the age of new owner operator trucks.
  • Implementing low viscosity engine and drive-train lubricants
  • Introducing aerodynamic cab components
