C&K Trucking has acquired Transportation Made Simple, Inc. ("TMS").
TMS is an intermodal drayage company, specializing in international containers. TMS has approximately 200 owner operators providing service in South Kearny, NJ, Baltimore, MD, Norfolk, VA, Charleston, SC, Savannah, GA, Jacksonville, FL, and Memphis, TN. TMS has grown rapidly over the last 7 years serving primarily the Steamship, 3PL and Direct Shipper customer base.
"We are pleased to have the opportunity to partner with Sean McShane, President of TMS and Peter Pace, EVP of TMS" said Michael Burton, President of C&K Trucking. Sean and Peter combined have over 50 years experience in the intermodal industry. Mike Burton stated that "In today's environment, we need to pool resources where possible to effectively compete both on a service basis and cost basis. The combination of C&K and TMS will allow us to integrate several of our terminals and improve our density of service." Combined, C&K/TMS will have approximately 600 trucks in its fleet.
David Hensal, VP of Operations stated: "We believe the combination not only provides us a full presence in the East Coast and Midwest, we also believe it gives us economies of scale to continue to invest in safety, systems, and people."
Effective November 13, 2009, TMS will transition its operations to C&K. The transition should take approximately 60 days as we work through the changes with TMS's customers, vendors, ports and owner operators. "Our goal is to make this process as seamless as possible to all involved" stated Sean McShane, President of TMS.
